Dr. Sfondouris earned his dental degree from the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry, and obtained his certificate in Periodontics and Master of Science degree from the University of Maryland as well.
After the completion of his periodontal residency program, Dr. Sfondouris was selected to further advance his surgical and restorative training by completing a Prosthetic Fellowship program at the University of Maryland. Following the completion of his fellowship program, Dr. Sfondouris was a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry where he taught restorative dentistry to the undergraduate dental students.
Currently, Dr. Sfondouris is in private practice where he focuses on restorative, periodontal, and implant therapies. Additionally, he is a Clinical Assistant Researcher at the National Institute of Health (NIH), researching the oral Microbial and Immunological Characterization of Patients with Immune Dysfunction. Dr. Sfondouris is actively involved in the Alpha Omega Dental Organization, DC chapter where he is currently the President.
He learned early on in his career the value of education and helping both his patients and referral colleagues. Using his advanced knowledge and training, Dr. Sfondouris provides quality treatments to his patients as he has handled complex dental cases.
Dr. Sfondouris is board certified by the American Board of Periodontology.
Most importantly, however, he is patient-centered. His empathy and compassion are reflected in how he listens to the unique needs of each patient. Additionally, he collaborates with other dental professionals so that patients can receive the best treatment options.
Dr. Sfondouris is much in demand as a speaker to various local dental societies, hygiene clubs, and the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics.
A native of Annapolis, MD. He resides in Bethesda with his wife Staci and has 3 children, Lucas, Sofia, and Nathan, and enjoys playing lacrosse.
